The route, day by day

1. 1

   Day 1

   Arrival

   Welcome at Montreal airport and transfer by van to Saint-Élie-de-Caxton. At the end of the road, on the edge of the great northern forests, our base awaits: a house and a cabin on the shore of a frozen lake. Check-in, overview of the program and your first Quebec dinner.

2. 2

   Day 2

   Getting started and Saint-Alexis-des-Monts

   Gear and Ski-Doo Grand Touring Sport handover, explanations and safety briefing. A few kilometres are enough to feel at ease. Heading west to Saint-Alexis-des-Monts, a village surrounded by more than 600 lakes. Lunch at the Lac Blanc outfitter lodge, then back to St-Élie.

3. 3

   Day 3

   Log-driver country

   Via the Lac Caché trail stop, across Lac à l'Eau Claire, then trail 23 to the Hôtel Sacacomie, the largest all-wood hotel in North America, at the gates of the Mastigouche wildlife reserve. Back via trails 350 and 349 with a stop at Lac Blanc.

   Day 4

   Heading south

   Wide plains and small villages all the way to Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon, our southernmost point. Lunch there, back via Saint-Paulin.

5. 5

   Day 5

   The Saint-Maurice River

   Trails 349 and 23 North with a stop at Cabane Hill, then up the river to Grandes-Piles for lunch. On the way back, under the Grand-Mère bridge, then Saint-Georges, Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel and Saint-Étienne-des-Grès.

   Day 6

   Quebec City and Trois-Rivières

   A day in Quebec City: Old Quebec and the Château Frontenac. Buffet dinner in Trois-Rivières on the way back.

7. 7

   Day 7

   Lac Blanc

   By snowmobile to Lac Blanc. As an option, an hour or more of dog sledding with our musher.

8. 8

   Day 8

   Back to Montreal

   Transfer after breakfast and a free day: Old Montreal, the Biodôme, Sainte-Catherine Street or the underground city. Airport shuttle in the late afternoon.
